Small museum in a 1910 building that once housed the factory for Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills — now running exhibits on St. Lawrence River fishing history, sturgeon and muskellunge included, with gear once owned by local anglers Allan Bogardus and James Evans. One of the only places in the region that treats Black Lake's fishing culture as history worth documenting rather than just a tourism pitch.
The world's largest collection of Frederic Remington's paintings, sketches, and sculpture, housed in the 1810 Parish Mansion in Ogdensburg — a serious art stop about 25 minutes from the lake, open weekdays only. A separate children's wing runs western-themed activities, which makes it a workable rainy-day plan for a family that's exhausted the fishing-and-cards routine at the cottage.
