Rangeley Lake · The unglamorous list

Groceries, gas, urgent care.

The list nobody Instagrams. Where to grocery-shop on a Saturday afternoon. Which gas station's open at 11. Where the pharmacy is at six on a Sunday. The closest urgent care if the kid hits the dock the wrong way.

We list the boring stuff so the vacation works.

Grocery & provisions

1 listed
  • Rangeley
    Rangeley IGA
    Editor's pick

The only full-service grocery store in the Rangeley Lakes Region — family-owned since 1994, in the current building on Main Street since 2003, with an in-store pharmacy counter. Open Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m. This is the provisioning stop, full stop; there is no second grocery store to fall back on if you miss the closing time.

Hardware, liquor & ice

  • Oquossoc
    Blue Flame Gas Company
    Editor's pick

Propane delivery and retail out of Oquossoc, with a Main Street Rangeley storefront selling woodstoves, grills, and fireplace equipment under the same company. This is who to call before a week-long stay if the camp's grill tank is running low — same-day fills are common in season, less certain in the dead of winter when the trucks are running heating routes instead.

  • Rangeley
    Lakeside Convenience & Marina

Main Street stop combining a package store with a small grocery and marina counter — beer, wine, liquor, snacks, and the basics that don't require a full IGA run. Useful for restocking a cooler on the way to the boat rather than planning ahead. Not a wine list to seek out on its own, just the closest thing to a bottle shop directly in the village.

  • Rangeley
    DC Morton & Sons

Hardware and gas combined on Main Street, the fallback when a rental's toilet flapper fails or a boat trailer needs a part on a Sunday. Not a big-box selection, but the staff know the fix for most of what breaks at a lake camp. Also handles small engine and vehicle service, which matters more here than in a market with a dealership twenty minutes away.

Gas, EV & laundry

2 listed
  • Rangeley
    Rangeley IGA Citgo

Gas pumps at the IGA on Main Street — the most central fill-up in the village, worth using on the way in or out rather than searching for a cheaper price that doesn't really exist out here. There's no second station in town competing on price, so treat the trip as a stop to combine with groceries, not a separate errand.

  • Rangeley
    Village Scrubboard

Main Street laundromat, the practical answer for a week-long rental without its own washer. Self-serve, cash or card depending on the machine, no drop-off service to rely on if you're in a hurry. One of only two laundromats in the entire region, so plan the visit rather than assuming a walk-in slot on a Saturday afternoon in August.

Urgent care & pharmacy

3 listed
  • Farmington
MaineHealth Franklin Hospital — Emergency Department
    Editor's pick

The closest 24-hour emergency department to Rangeley Lake, in Farmington, about 43 miles and roughly 55 minutes south on Route 4 — treats strokes, heart attacks, and broken bones around the clock. Rumford Hospital sits a similar drive away as a second option. There is no hospital or standalone urgent care in Rangeley itself; save this address before a boating accident or a bad fall, since cell service thins out well before you reach it.

  • Rangeley
    Rangeley Family Medicine

HealthReach primary-care clinic on Dallas Hill Road covering routine physicals, chronic and acute visits, basic labs, and minor procedures for patients of all ages. This is not an urgent care or an ER — it's a weekday clinic, and it's the only medical office actually in Rangeley. For anything after hours or genuinely urgent, the drive to Farmington is the real answer.

  • Rangeley
    Rangeley Pharmacy

Prescription counter attached to the IGA on Main Street — the only pharmacy in the village, and not a 24-hour operation. Fill anything you'll need for the trip before you arrive if possible; an evening or weekend prescription emergency means the Farmington drive, same as an ER visit would.
