The list nobody Instagrams. Where to grocery-shop on a Saturday afternoon. Which gas station's open at 11. Where the pharmacy is at six on a Sunday. The closest urgent care if the kid hits the dock the wrong way.
We list the boring stuff so the vacation works.
Richland's actual grocery store, right on Gull Road — a full-service butcher counter, a produce section that beats what a small-town market usually manages, and an independent pharmacy tucked inside the same building. Open 7 to 9 most days, 7 to 8 on Sunday. The only full grocery stop inside Richland proper; Kalamazoo and Portage have the big-box alternatives if Harding's doesn't carry it.
Delton's own grocery store on Grove Street, the alternative to a drive into Hastings or Kalamazoo for anyone staying on the lake's north end. Small-town footprint, a loyalty card that actually moves the needle on price, and a produce section that restocks on its own schedule rather than daily — ask before assuming Saturday morning is the best time to shop it. Open 8am to 10pm every day.
Richland's hardware store on 32nd Street, open seven days including a Sunday window most small-town hardware stores skip — the stop for the dock cleat that snapped, the grill propane tank that ran out, or the tool a week-long rental didn't pack. Not a big-box replacement, but for the specific, small emergency a lake week produces, it's faster than driving to Kalamazoo. Closes early on Saturday and Sunday.
A dock-and-stock market on E D Avenue, close enough to Gull Lake Marine that boaters pull up and walk over rather than drive. Beer, wine, and spirits alongside the snacks and ice a boat day runs out of by early afternoon. The shop has changed names and owners more than once over the years; Captain Mo's is the current run, open seven days with extended Friday and Saturday hours.
The gas stop in Richland village on 32nd Street, with a Subway counter inside for anyone who needs lunch and fuel in the same stop. Not the cheapest gas around, but the only option inside Richland proper — the alternative is a drive toward Kalamazoo or Battle Creek. Easy Pay signup knocks a few cents off the pump price, worth doing for anyone filling up more than once during a lake week.
A RED E Charge station on E D Avenue, in the same corridor as the marina and Captain Mo's — Level 2 and DC fast charging, available around the clock. One of the few EV charging options directly on the lake rather than back on the highway corridor toward Kalamazoo. Worth checking the network's app before arriving to confirm a stall is free during a busy summer weekend.
Bronson's walk-in clinic on Gull Road in Kalamazoo, open every day from 8am to 8pm with no appointment needed — the right call for a fishhook, a sunburn gone bad, or a kid's fever that can't wait for a Monday pediatrician visit. About twenty-five minutes from Richland, closer from the Kalamazoo side of the lake. It shares a building with other practices, so double-check the suite number before driving over.
Kalamazoo's Level II Trauma Center and the serious-injury answer for the whole lake, not just the city around it — 24-hour emergency care and a Comprehensive Stroke Center on Gull Road, about twenty-five minutes from Richland. Save the address before a trip instead of searching for it mid-emergency; Gull Road runs straight there from the lake without much traffic to fight outside of Kalamazoo rush hour.
An independent pharmacy that's operated inside Harding's Market on Gull Road since 1984 — not a national chain, and it shows in the service: free local delivery, medication sync so refills land on one pickup instead of five, and a pharmacist who explains an interaction rather than hand over a printed sheet. Open Monday through Friday 10 to 6, Saturday until 1, closed Sunday. The only pharmacy inside Richland itself.
