The full-service grocery stop for the whole lake — open 6 a.m. to midnight, with a prepared-food case deep enough to handle a week of dinners without cooking every night. It's a 20-to-30-minute drive from any of the four lake towns, so plan the provisioning run for the day you arrive, not the day after.
The Washington Street Tops is the closer-to-downtown option when Wegmans is out of the way — smaller, faster in and out, and open the hours a standard grocery run needs without the prepared-food theater. Fine for a top-off trip mid-week.
The general store at the center of the point — over 40 flavors of Perry's ice cream, basic groceries, and the closest thing to a corner store this end of the lake has. It's not a real grocery trip, but for a mid-lake rental without a car, it covers more of the week than you'd expect. Cash still moves the line faster in July.
South Erie Street's hardware store, in business under one name for nearly sixty years — the fishing line, the propane exchange, the boat part you didn't know you'd need until the dock needed it. Faster than driving to Jamestown for one item.
Jamestown's volume liquor stop on Fairmount Avenue — the weekend stock-up run for a rental house rather than a curated bottle list. Reliable hours, reliable prices, and close enough to Brigiotta's to combine both errands in one trip.
Bemus Point's marine-services shop — parts, repairs, and boating products for anyone whose rental boat needs something the marina counter doesn't stock. Not a rental operation itself; it's the call when something on the water breaks mid-week.
The regional convenience-and-gas chain's East Lake Road location — reliable fuel, a mini-mart for the stuff you forgot, and a second outpost on Route 430 in Bemus Point for the mid-lake stretch. Gas up here before a Jamestown or Mayville day trip; prices run steadier than the marina-adjacent pumps.
Two Tesla and two J1772 stalls at the Institution's School of Art north lot — the closest public EV charging to the lake's mid-lake and north end. Plan around it rather than on it; this is not a fast-charging bank, and a lecture or concert is the natural amount of time to let it work.
The lake's full-service hospital, on Foote Avenue in Jamestown — a 24-hour emergency department, the only one within a reasonable drive from any of the four towns. Roughly 25 minutes from Bemus Point, 35 from Mayville. Save the number before you need it.
South Main Street urgent care for anything that doesn't need the ER — walk-in hours, no appointment required, and faster than WCA's emergency department for a minor injury or illness during a lake week.
The Lakewood location covers the south end without the drive into downtown Jamestown — same walk-in model, same chain, closer if you're staying near Southern Tier Brewing or the Lakewood shoreline.

Fluvanna Avenue's veterinary practice covers daytime care for the whole lake; there's no 24-hour animal hospital in Chautauqua County itself. After-hours emergencies route to Erie, Pennsylvania, or Orchard Park, New York — both roughly 45 minutes to an hour out. Worth knowing before you're driving with an anxious dog at midnight, not after.
