The go-to for the dinner-party bottle or the last-minute dock six-pack. Open until 9 PM most nights, noon to 7 on Sundays.
South Franklin Street beverage stop at the Routes 414/14 split — liquor, wine from sixty-plus New York producers, NY craft beer, growler fills, tobacco, and grocery basics under one roof. The one-stop restock before a long weekend, without a second errand across town. Open until 9 or 10 most nights.
Geneva's liquor stop since 1935 — a deep selection of spirits, wine, and craft beer on East North Street at prices locals actually mention. Worth the detour before a north-end rental or a Seneca Lake State Park picnic. Open daily until midnight, one of the latest closing times in town and a fixture on the block for close to a century.
Family-run hardware and building-supply store on Route 14 since 1992, just south of the village — lumber, paint, tools, landscaping supplies, and a propane tank exchange out front for the grill or the fire pit. The place locals mean when they say 'the supply store.' Staff know where things are without checking a screen.
Penn Yan's Ace Hardware on Main Street — appliances, tools, electronics, and the small parts a lake house always needs mid-project. Family-owned, downtown, open seven days with an early close on Sunday. The north-end fallback when the wine-trail hardware run can't wait for a Geneva or Watkins Glen trip.
Propane dealer on Route 14 in Montour Falls — tank fills, delivery, and service for grills, fire pits, and whole-house systems. Family-run, open seven days until 7 PM, and the call to make before a holiday weekend if the cottage tank runs low mid-season. Bulk delivery for a full-season lease is worth setting up before Memorial Day.
Gas station at the north end of Franklin Street, steps from the Watkins Glen State Park entrance — regular, mid-grade, premium, and diesel, plus a mini mart for snacks, drinks, and an ATM. The easiest fill-up before or after the gorge trail. The stop everyone means when they say 'the Sunoco by the park.'
The only gas station on the Route 414 wine trail between Watkins Glen and Lodi — a real consideration on a full day of tastings, since the stretch through Hector otherwise runs dry. Convenience store, restrooms, 94-octane and diesel, grab-and-go snacks. Fill up here before starting the loop, not after.
