Waterfront deck with a sightline down the length of the lake that most of Sylvan Beach's restaurants would trade for. Live music runs most summer weekends, loud enough that dinner turns into a night out without anyone planning it that way. Seafood and pub food, nothing overworked. Get there before six for a rail table if the band's already been announced.
North shore's best-regarded kitchen, on NY-49 with outdoor tables that look straight out over the water. The bacon-jam gouda burger gets singled out in nearly every review that isn't just about the sunset. Quieter crowd than Sylvan Beach, and the deck is the one to book if you're staying on the north shore and don't want to drive forty minutes for dinner.
An 85-foot beacon built in 1917, lit at night, in a small park on 4th Avenue with benches and enough historical signage to fill the five minutes it takes to read. Not a climbable lighthouse — the appeal is the walk and the view down the east end of the lake, best right before sunset when the beam starts cutting through the dusk.
