    The oldest lake on the Catawba River — first dammed near Fort Mill in 1904 by the Catawba Power Company (a Duke Energy predecessor), rebuilt in 1924. Named for Dr. W. Gil Wylie, who organized the company. The lake now covers 13,443 acres with 325 miles of shoreline across the North Carolina-South Carolina border.
