Iconic stops

3 listed
  • Lake Havasu City
    London Bridge
    Editor's pick

The original 1830s London Bridge, sold by the City of London in 1968 after it began sinking into the Thames. Robert McCulloch bought its exterior granite for $2.46 million, shipped it to Arizona, and had it rebuilt over a newly dug channel that turned the shoreline into an island. It reopened in 1971 and is Arizona's second-most-visited attraction after the Grand Canyon.

  • Parker
    Parker Dam
    Editor's pick

The dam that formed Lake Havasu, built 1934–1938 and dedicated that November by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, with roughly two-thirds of its structural height sunk below the riverbed.

  • Lake Havasu City
    London Bridge Beach
    Editor's pick

A free public park along the Bridgewater Channel with a buoyed swim area, two playgrounds, a fenced dog park, and a dozen BBQ ramadas — the city's main lakefront green space.
